Probably lots of boobs...

HBO loves showing lots of boobs.

reply

In the 80s all great movies it was mandatory for a boob flash.

Today they show more penis

I prefer the 80s.

reply

Where are all these penis' you talk about? Game of Thrones? Westworld? The Soprano's? Not likely.

reply

I do remember a few episodes of GOT that had full frontal male nudity. Granted, it was a SLIM percentage compared to the amount of female nudity, but it was there. I believe I even remember one scene with Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) showing full on twig and berries.

So it does happen... it’s just FAR more rare than full frontal female nudity.

reply

Yea, I don't don't know where they show all this penis on HBO.

reply

I was talking more movies in general....I haven't seen many HBO series....

reply

Movies? I can't remember the last time I saw penis in a movie either?

reply

You must not have been watching “Watchmen”. They showed a few in that.

reply

I did watch i, and from what I remember the nudity was there for a reason. It wasn't done to necessarily titillate the men watching. As long as it doesn't seem exploitative, I am fine with nudity. It just seems that a lot of these HBO shows can't get through an episode without showing boobs, butts or beaver.

reply

70s/80s movies also seemed to show a lot of random casual heterosexual encounters that didn't add anything to the plot. The most blatant one was in 'The Fog' where Jamie Lee Curtis shags some random truck driver for no apparent reason. Either there was a lot of random sex going on back then, or the writers put it in because that's how they thought life SHOULD be.

reply

I truly hate this.

It's not the 70s where an R Rated film was something crazy because of boobs. We have infinite porn with literally all types of women and so who exactly gets all excited from seeing a couple brief images of semi naked women in some kind of drama?

It reduces credibility of a show if I see that.

reply

i just think for the most part, nudity in movies it to titillate the viewers. Believe me there are still lots of guys who love the boobs and all in their HBO programs. If they didn't like it or care about it, they would not show so many naked women. For the most part it is exploiting actresses, because most of the nude scenes are unnecessary. If nudity was integral to the plot, then why don't we see more dicks and balls?

reply

I agree with most of that.

However, these people don't poll viewers, they are making what they want. Since there's not much great on, people watch whatever is put in front of them.

reply

Being a man, I hear lots of shit at work and among friend about how it is so much hotter to see legit actresses parading around on these shows. It's definitely a thing and HBO knows it. Also these producers and directors are pretty sleazy getting actresses to do nude scenes when it really isn't needed.

reply

I'm a man and agree.

It feels gross to me watching a legit actress naked, for the purpose of being naked, and knowing she probably isn't too happy. It's too Weinstein for my taste.

They literally turn actresses into whores.

reply

Yes, this is so true. The sexual perverts in Hollywood also have had woman do nude scenes that just aren't necessary. Those scenes are only there to degrade these actresses and for the sleazebags to get their rocks off. It is almost as bad as the producers, directors and actors sexually intimidating the actresses. I always used to wonder why it was always necessary for women to be naked in scenes, but it never was needed when it came to the men. Seeing how perverted Hollywood is we pretty much know why. Will any of this stop. I doubt it. Not until it comes out that actresses were told that they must do the nude scene or they don't have the part. I have also heard that there have been directors and crew who have made actresses feel very uncomfortable when they had to do nude scenes. David Lynch comes to mind. Patricia Arquette said in an interview that she felt humiliated while filming Lost Highway. I've seen the movie and I can see why. The nudity wasn't needed and was only there for Lynch's and the viewers enjoyment. Pretty sick.

reply

It's because you have a bunch of "Seth Rogan" types who can't wait to come up with some plot to get some girl naked under the guise that it's "for the movie" and it never is.

There's also the pervert guy thing where once they get the girl naked, she's finished, she's a whore they used. I remember when I first caught on to this, I'd see and actress naked and think, that's the last we'll see of her.

I wish some kind of major cleaning of Hollywood could be done.

This sounds downright bizarre. An extremely retrograde way of thinking - it's as though you are from a different time.

reply

You didn't explain anything there.

There's forums all over the internet where guys talk about "fucking a sloot" and they then have no respect for her, post pics, etc. That's a classic and still continues.

It's a bizarre attitude since a normal person would appreciate the girl. It has been a sign of repressed homosexuality in some people I've known.

reply

Could it be they are trying to appeal to a type of man who would never, ever, watch internet porn, in case his pastor found out or something, but who wouldn't mind watching some boobs if they just happened to appear on his TV screen. 'Nothin' I could do about it reverend, them tig ol' bitties just appeared on mah screen for ah had time to turn her off!'

reply

Not much great on? There is so much great television nowadays that I can never catch up! And that's considering that I watch quite a lot.

reply

I am certain someone like Lena Dunham insisted on all that nudity, no one was exploiting her.

Not sure why she felt it was necessary for the story, though.

reply

Yes she did insist on the nudity. Since it was her show, I don't think the issue is the same here. She did it to show that overweight women can also display their bodies on a television show. It was a statement and really wasn't needed imo. That nudity with Dunham is different than actresses being told by directors and producers to disrobe or look for other work. Not the same thing.

reply

I think actresses today have a lot more agency than you think they do. Perhaps they want to show off, perhaps they do it for art - I know for instance that Nicole Kidman always does her nude scenes herself, never a body double. There could be various reasons, not something so black and white.

reply

True and I am not against all nudity, but there are many times where I see an actress in a scene where I just feel uncomfortable. And if I feel that way then just imagine how she feels. Most of the decisions to show naked women on HBO programs is for pure titillation and not for artistic merit. Lots of this comes back to haunt not only the actresses, but also her family. Imagine her kids having classmates find nude pics of their mother and show it all over school. That's rough for the kid.

reply

I thought you were better than this. I mean, this is a good show, at least watch it first before passing judgment.

reply

I just asked a question. No one answered it. I am not a prude and I don't always feel that nudity is unnecessary, but I do feel that in a lot of these shows it is inserted just to excite men. I have even read some posts that complain when certain shows don't show boobs. I think it devalues a show, like Game of Thrones, when men are concerned about how many boobs will be shown in each episode.

reply

if this show has boobs in it i am going to be so angry!

reply

Why is it fair to show boobs but a man has to show his penis? We rarely see the pussy and at times they're covered up with pubic hair.

reply

Men should have to endure the same humiliation that females do. It can't be very comfortable being naked in front of everyone. Also once and actress does the nude scene, pics are all over the net. Men are protected, while women are objectified.

reply

why does that need corroboration? Why do they have these naked pictures?

reply

It ain't called HBoobsO for nowt.
