Drop ship light speed?

Decent finale. One thing bugs me...

So the dropship had light speed capabilities? Why not stuff in a bunch of those rebels and light speed the hell out of there when the star destroyer was chasing them??? Maybe you can't get all of them in there but it wasn't that small and could get quite a few, including Leia.

After the Vader fight I assumed Kenobi was going to steal Vader's ship, which had light speed (proven in Return of the Jedi). Ben saw Vader land and it could have been part of his escape plan.
That would have made sense and been a good, final burn to Annie.
