Could've been called literally anything...

For real though, I just finished season 1. Pretty entertaining, for the most part.

But honestly, feels like they're just using the DC comic IP for recognition. Cause Alfred Pennyworth could be renamed to literally anything in the script & it would honestly not change anything at all. Solid Crime drama on its own but it's just riding that popular DC IP

Also, Thomas Wayne & his future wife Martha feel VERY shoehorned in this, in my opinion

I have never seen it and I know everything you posted is accurate.

Well, as long as you agree. 😅😅

That's pretty much the premise of Batman TV shows that don't feature Batman. Take Gotham for example. It could have existed with no Bruce Wayne and the characters without DC names.

I suspect the Joker script was unsold until the writer thought: "Make the crazy guy the Joker and shoe-in Batman mythology."

Fractured thinking like this is why the DC movies and shows really don't work as part of the DC universe.

I was genuinely about to mention the Joker film as well. Enjoyed the film but Take away the DC & Jokers names & it would still work. The Joker title seemed very tacked on.

It just seemed like they wrote 'A' Script & put the DC title on it cause that sells it

Also, speaking as a Huge DC fan, I absolutely hate the whole "Strip away everything comicbook-ey" & make it "Realistic" thing. Why the f**k would you take away all the fantastical elements that make comics great. We can't do that, we can't use that because it's not realistic

Ugh, it honestly gets on my nerves. That's why I'm absolutely LOVING Doom Patrol. My absolute favorite DC show right now. They completely embrace the weirdness & absurdity of their comics.
