Is this show going somewhere?

Or are they just making this stuff up as they go?

😎

reply

I don't know but it's going without me. After that last ridiculous episode, i'm out. "It's all connected!"

reply

That was kind of weak. The promo made it look better than it actually was. I'm going to hang on for a while longer since I'm stubborn and hopeful.

😎

reply

It's the latter, but at least when they did it in Lost it was interesting (even fascinating at times).

This is a much weaker show. And I mean incomparably so.

reply

I think you're right. Unfortunately I never watched Lost. Were you as disappointed by the end as most fans seemed to be?

😎

reply

Yes, extremely disappointed by the ending, but the first five seasons were awesome.

To this day it's probably the only show that made people theorize like that.

reply

I know that people were fascinated by it. Wish I would have watched.

😎

reply

Lol, you still can. :)

reply

Yeaaaaah I know, but 118 episodes? I don't have that kind of time. Plus it would seem like a waste knowing that it had an ending which pissed off its fans.

Most series seem to have people complaining about the finale. Especially in this day and age of the internet where the most complainy are the most vocal, and other people see that intensity and want to jump on the bandwagon to feel superior, or they don't want to be ridiculed so they stay quiet about it. So it makes it seem like almost every series has a disappointing finale.

reply

That's a good point, but I don't have the time to go back and watch six seasons: 130 episodes,
as I just discovered.

😎

reply

No, man, be glad you didn't watch lost. It wasnt just the last episode...the whole last season of that show was a big let down.

reply

Thanks, but I kinda wish I had watched it. Too late now, cause I don't have the time to go back and watch 130 episodes.

😎

reply

I watched every episode, I didn't think it was anything special. it was alright. Seemed like they were making things up on the run and didn't know where it was heading. I could think of much better shows to binge.

reply

I agree, and I'm on the verge of cutting it loose.

PS I'm currently trying to wade through 62 episodes of Breaking Bad. I've kind of bogged down after seven.
I don't know if I will continue.

😎

reply

Honestly, after the first season of Breaking Bad I could take it or leave it. It didn't grab me at all.

But you should keep going - you'll see why it's considered such a masterpiece.

reply

Rrrrrrgggggg! Maybe. I dunno.

😎

reply

It's up to you, of course, but you'll be missing out if you don't.

reply

We'll see......

😎

reply

You really should watch the first episode of Lost. It is a masterpiece. I also recommend watching the entire run of it. The ending is not as bad as people say. And in retrospect, I do not regret watching Lost at all, despite some of the unanswered questions. Definitely in my top 5 shows of all time.

reply

Thanks, but I think I'll skip that. I'm sure it was a great show, but I don't have the time to go back and watch six seasons, 130 episodes. And if I'm not going to watch the whole thing, there's no point in watching the first episode.

Note: I tried it with Breaking Bad, but gave it up after watching seven of the 62 episodes.

A friend of mine watched Lost late. She watched 2 episodes every Tue night. Took her about 1 1/2 year. Didn't interfere with her other watching habits.

But, hey, I can't seem to reach your arm from here to twist.

reply

Thanks, but it wouldn't do you any good.

😎

reply

Wow I'm really surprised you gave up on Breaking Bad. It is fantastic and just gets better and better. As I remember I wasn't that blown away after a few episodes either. Definitely 1 of my favs of all time. A lot of people consider it the best show ever.

Have you watched The Wire, Banshee, or The Shield? Just 3 shows I can think of right now that were great.

reply

Nope.

😎

reply

Well if ya get bored give 1 of those a shot. Don't think you could go wrong with any of them. If you like westerns I'd recommend Deadwood.

reply

Okay then.

😎

reply

It just didn't grab me enough to watch another 55 episodes.

Have you watched Fargo, Twin Peaks, Better Call Saul, Cosmos (Sagan), Sherlock,
The Sopranos, The Twilight Zone (original), House, Black Mirror, Hill Street Blues, Stranger Things, Dekalog, Westworld or Monty Python's Flying Circus?

I think all of these were great.

reply

I finally gave up after seven episodes.

I liked the ending of Lost. Sure it didn't explain everything, but that is what I wanted. I never wanted to know all of it.

reply

I remember the widespread outrage when it ended - you just might be the only one!

reply

I don't think I am the only one, but it is funny that there was such outrage just because people didn't get all the answers. Honestly there were so many questions up to the finale, I can't believe people actually thought everything was going to be explained. That's kind of outrageous in itself.

reply

No, it wasn't about that, exactly. The creators said that they wrote the ending right after they wrote the beginning - problem was, over the years (of making stuff up as they went) the show became something else entirely, and that ending no longer fit.

It was just a cop-out way to end such an epic story, and people felt justifiably angry having had invested six years of their lives into the show.

reply

Oh well, to each his own. It was a hell of a ride either way, so I was still OK with it all. Also you assume a lot when you say they were making it all up as they went along. Unless you were a part of the writing process, I find it funny that you know this for sure. Anyhow, it is what it is...a television show. Now if only people got as upset about what happens in real life, we all could be in a better place.

reply

You can find it funny all you want, but it was a well-known truth at the time, nor was it something the creators ever tried to refute. [shrug]

reply

Why would the writers try to refute any of it? That would be nonsense. It was only truth in the minds of the fans who were kicking and screaming like 6 year old children. There have been lots of shows where answers to questions were embedded in the episodes, but only clever people who like a challenge could decipher. I can't help it that most of the fans were too lazy to find the answers for themselves. Some people want everything spoon fed.

reply

Not sure what the necessity is for that kind of attitude, but whatever floats your boat.

reply

I guess the truth hurts. People these days want everything done for them when it comes to television and movies. If that is what you like then that is fine, but some of us like to fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle and come up with our own conclusions. To me that is fun.

reply

And I would say you have low standards for what constitutes good story-telling if you didn't see that that ending was plain tacked on.

You obviously came here to pick a fight, but I couldn't possibly be less interested in your opinion on anything.

Kindly go harass somebody else, I will not respond anymore.

reply

I was OK with the ending as an "Ending." I got it. Not the greatest but not anger-inspiring.
However I was unhappy with many of the loose ends, like the three toed statue, etc.

reply

I saw an analogy somewhere that it was as if for six years someone was waving a delicious-smelling covered plate with something in front of your face, teasing you, making you salivate, and then one fine day - bam, they threw it into a wall. And you ask them, "WAIT! What was that exquisite aroma?!?!", and they respond with, "Food."

Yeah, I agree.

reply

Funny and apt. I don't regret watching the show, though. It was a very fine aroma.

reply

Harass somebody else? Gee you are a sensitive reactionary person who can't stand others opinions. I didn't realize we were fighting either. You should relax more. Stop the outrage!

reply

They do seem to be dragging it out. don't they?

reply

Yes they do, and Ben Stone is really bland, and kind of a pussy. I just noticed that the rating on IMDB has fallen from the initial 8.0 to 7.5. Apparently others have come to a similar conclusion.

reply

He's hot though

reply

So is his sister Michaela, but she wears a tad too much eye shadow.
