The Scene with the Eye

I'm not talking about the flare OR the screwdriver. I mean the eye of the storm.

They set out to get to the boat, counting on the noise of the rain to shield them from the gators. Then this moment of beautiful tranquility shows up in the middle of the storm. At any other time, for anybody else in the hurricane, that would be welcome respite and a chance to catch breath and survive the storm. For these two it's nearly fatal.

What a great use of juxtaposition of an image of peace with a sense of doom and foreboding! Hats off to the director Alexandre Aja! What a great use of the film canvas!
