Deaf girl (spoilers)

So she takes off to find this place.

How does she not attract the attention of the monsters over and over? She's deaf. She has no clue how much noise she is making. That's really backward. They should have written a character that had an advantage over the creatures. I know they needed her for the weapon but there is no way she makes that journey without getting taken out by the monsters
