Really?

I like the show in general, but it takes time to push ideology that goes against the whole time period.

Case in point, Ivy refusing a proposal. Really? Really?

This character is an older woman who works as a maid of all work. Plus it is implied that her pay is spotty because Scarlet was going through some hard times.

So she gains the admiration of a man with a good job and who can give her a nice home. A home where she did not have to be a servant.

But she refuses him because Scarlet is just so impressive.

I was just shocked. Since it is obvious Scarlett won't get married (she has absolutely no chemistry with the Duke), it would have been nice to see Ivy be happy. And what is more, it would put Scarlett in a position to be more an adult without Ivy being forced into a semi-mother figure for her.

That really annoyed me and it took some of the shine from the show.
