What did I just watch?

This was awful. Awful acting, cheesy. Save your money and put up a picture of Hailey Atwell and put Springsteen on your iPod.

My biggest gripe is that in my favorite scene, the one in which Javed’s father gets his head split open, it was the father who was injured and not Javed and his narcissistic girlfriend and his weirdo best friend Matt.

Just curious...how old you are and have you spent hours and hours listening to these albums?

I thought this was fantastic and was really emotional all thru it....really relating. But, during high school I listened to Badlands hours each day, the during university time, listened to Hungry Heart non stop for months, then after I got my heart broken, Big Time, for the first time...enter Dancing.

I’m in my late forties and have seen Springsteen around a dozen times.

The music was, of course, great. As a movie I hated everything about it.

reply

Thanks for the response. This is very much...to each, their own. Ha.

I agree, the plot, the movies, and the actors all sucked. But the music, visual lyrics and the ending all made it worthwhile for me, and I ended up rating it 10/10.

reply

I totally agree. I'm a huge Springsteen fan and this made me feel like i'm listening to his music for the first time. It really captured the feeling of when you 'get' his lyrics and music. I was in tears when 'Promised land' started playing and it was tears of joy. Wonderful movie.

reply

I'm not even a hardcore Bruce fan and I still was moved at the end.

This movie is made for die-hard Springsteen fans, and every concert-going fan that I know was brought to tears by this movie. I rate it as one of the best I've ever seen.

I can understand if you're not a huge BRUCE fan that it would miss the mark.

reply

I’m a Springsteen fan that’s seen him a dozen or so times over the years.

The acting in this movie was awful and the tone of it was corny.

I’m a Springsteen fan and this movie missed the mark.

There was not one single year shed in the theater I attended on opening night. It earned a bunch of yawns but no tears.

I'm with you, although I'm not sure I'd go as low as "awful," mainly because on some level I appreciated the attempt. It just fell flat. The ending was decent, but by then I had lost all interest in the main character. He just didn't resonate (and I'm a Springsteen fan as well). I never warmed up to Javed and the movie just became a chore to watch.

reply

I tried to just focus on the music but the annoying Javed and his friend just sucked the joy out of the songs that were played.

reply

You wished the movie focused on the white supremacists, don't you?

reply

It probably would have made for a more interesting movie and better actors.

And they were called skinheads in the 80s you stupid fool. Read a book. Maybe you could steal your grandmother’s credit card and buy one.

Welcome to my ignore list.

reply

White supremacists, skinheads... tomato tomatoe.

Offended I misnamed your tribe?
