Was a huge fan. HUGE.

But I stopped watching after Courageous. A variety of reasons but one of the biggest is, Alex won't let loose of the limelight for anyone else to star. I believe he has serious, serious issues craving attention or something. He cast Kirk Cameron in Foreproof and it turned out great; IMO the best one of all.

I'm just tired of his mug hogging the cam. Sorry.

Won't see this one. Didn't see the last one. Stopped with Courageous.

Check out "War Room" (2015); it's easily his best and one of the most inspiring films ever, which is pretty incredible for a flick that only cost $3 million to make.

I heard it was good. But I just lost my taste for them after they left Albany.

That's you're prerogative but -- for me -- where a filmmaker chooses to live is totally irrelevant to the quality of their output.

Eh, I get you saying that. I don't expect anyone to understand but, they were a movement here, our hometown stars. The town was like an extra character in the films. In my mind the town is woven into the overall vibe. They still live here btw; just shooting films in other places. That took an essenetial piece of the appeal for me, changed the context.

But for this was never the case, so that's why you don't understand what I am saying.

They're great guys. Just miss the cozy sowega vibe we had going on for all that while.

I think part of the reason was for marketing's sake. To 'spread it around' the country as a way to amp up interest.

Cheers.

It might not be him hogging the spotlight. It might be kind of a reverse Clint Eastwood thing. Clint Eastwood would not let other directors direct him. Perhaps Alex doesn't like directing other actors.

reply

Well... he did with Fireproof which imo was his best of all (up until 2011; I have not seen the two latest)

It just strikes me that way. It's an intuitive thing, so I don't expect others to see it.
