I'm really liking the show so far

I wish they would have spaced out the devs season and the new Westworld season so that they don't both occupy mind space of the audience simultaneously and we could have had something during the downtime to think about.

I'm loving this show just like I'm loving the new season of Westworld. I'm a big fan of Alex Garland. I liked both Ex Machina and Annihilation.

I agree and in fact was just thinking about that the other day... they are both currently my two favorite shows, but wish I wasn't watching them concurrently (especially as they are both talking about "tram lines" in a way.)

Also, the latest episode of Devs kind of blew my mind with the revelation of the "Static" (don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet.) It makes you wonder; what if we really are all in a Simulation (as many Scientists are starting to believe) and what if the plug was just pulled on us!?

reply

"all in a Simulation (as many Scientists are starting to believe) "

No, real scientists don't believe in shit like that. It's magical thinking.

reply

Dude, few years ago there are a Isaac Asimov panel discuss this, you can watch on youtube, real scientists real think it's possible.

reply

Sorry Satan, but you are completely clueless and obviously out of the loop. The actual talk among the majority of scientists today is there is a very very low probability that what we are experiencing is actual real life, and a very high probability that we are in a simulation. Research (though I guess it's easier for someone like me to research it with actual Theoretical and Quantum Physicists at CalTech than someone like you who is just some kid on his computer.)

reply

I know that these discussions are ongoing and that there are different theories on this topic (simulation hypothesis)... but I have not heard that a majority of scientists believe that we are actually living in a simulation... Please provide links, articles etc. that confirm that statement...

reply

Seriously? It's not like it's some obscure thing I read in one article, it's everywhere! A simple Google search will give you a ton of results. Neil Degrass Tyson has been talking about it for years, scientists from MIT to JPL have all been talking about it... just search, I'm not going to spoon-feed you.

reply

Well... I know Niel DeGrasse Tyson has talked about it... But I do not believe he has ever said that there is a very high probability we a living in a simulation...

The problem with a statement like yours is you spin the facts... you use a phrase like 'majority of scientists' before you statement... bur the truth is that the majority of scientists do not believe we are living in a simulation... sure they have talked about the simulation hypothesis but that is not the same as saying we are living in a simulation...

So if you claim the majority of scientists believe we are living in a simulation then please provide links to 10 different scientists tha claim what you are saying...

That shouldn't be hard... when according to you... the majority believe so...

reply

As far as I am concerned the double slit experiment is THE proof we are living in a simulation.

reply

How is it proof?

reply

Because the outcome depends on whether we are closely watching it or not.

reply

I read an interesting theory (can't remember where wish I could) whereby it was like if we found proof we are in a simulation wed have to be careful in case the simulation would shut down as it might be programmed to do so if we cracked its code.. or it might ascend to another 'level' of the 'game' or something which could be equally disastrous (not that it would be disastrous as its not reality..but then it would be our reality)

also there was something about the study of light on the event horizon of a black hole somehow proves we are living in a simulation ?

reply

wait until seasons are over and binge watch it?
