JJ Abrams ruined Luke just as much as Rian Johnson did

"Many Luke discussions have been had these past few days and I want to get this off my chest. Many people are, understandably, uncomfortable with Grogu ending up with Luke, having in mind what happens to Luke and his academy in the sequel trilogy. In the discussion that ensues many people end up blaming RJ for what he did to Luke and seem to be missing that what JJ did to him is a far bigger problem in this context.

So the problem with Grogu being a student in Luke's academy is that (as we know from the ST) all his students save for Ben end up slaughtered and his academy burned to the ground. All those things were established by the Force Awakens, not The Last Jedi. Many people usually point to the fact that Luke is floating a bunch of boulders at the end of TFA as the reason for why Abrams' Luke would be better but, I my opinion, that would be worse than what TLJ did! And this is not be defending TLJ, it is an abysmal movie and Luke presented there makes no sense.

What I'm saying here is that the real problem regarding Luke is that he left the galaxy, his friends, and his sister to be slaughtered and killed by a problem he helped create while he is sitting on an island somewhere. Whether he is moping around on that island or sitting around playing with rocks MAKE NO FUCKING DIFFERENCE! He is a huge asshole in either case. If anything, him being depressed and disconnected from the Force makes it a bit better, because he maybe doesn't know the extent of the problem the galaxy is in.

Had TLJ offered a Luke that is more in character to his OT portray, Grogu would be in just as much trouble right now."
