It's the score adjusted? Let's make a little experiment: what score do you give to the series?

Audicience score in
iMDB - 90%
Metacritic - 83%
RottenTomatoes - 94%

While I understand the hype, and how glad are people to see something that it's at least decent and not filled with politics, it seems to me that it's a bit too much. 9.0 in iMDB, for example, means that almost every vote was either 9 or 10.

So, let's make a little experiment/poll here. What score (1 to 10) do you give to The Mandalorian as a series?

My score: 6. Yours?

Current average: 6.97 (16 votes, updating)

Ah it’s another one of those "I don’t rate this highly therefore there’s no way the high ratings for it are legit” threads.

I don't know if there's a way or there's no way, so I'm just checking it here with a quick poll. I understand that The Power of Belief and True Woke Faith has become trendy last years, but I'm more 'old-fashioned' and traditionalist, and by that I mean skeptic, so I'd rather test. 😊

I like this show personally, but always have a hard time believing IMDb numbers. At one point rottentomatoes was reliable but not so much recently. Studios who want to promote their film, and groups that take some part of a movie politically (whether intended that way or not) and want to trash it, unleash armies of sock accounts and/or bots to submit votes. It's an object lesson to those who think voting in elections should be done online. How can you be sure those ratings are compiled from individual honest users? You can't.

I've always had great faith in the poll of viewing something myself - stuff I like never fails to earn a high rating, and stuff I hate always comes in low! 😏

How can you hate film or tv? Even if the subject isn’t your taste, to hate it is pretty extreme. Control ones emotions you will.

You know what I mean, don't be a smartass. 😎

Unfortunately, paper ballet counts can also be 'hacked' so to speak - i've never voted.

Given how we often see very high/low critic scores and the opposite from the audience scores, I'm not sure that critic scores are reliable either - studios pay, and movie critics have to eat.

Back in the day, when movie critics were working for newspapers and newspapers made money via newspaper ads, journalism on the whole was a bit more credible and same goes for reviews. These days.... we live in the era of fake news, and this is largely to the fact that corporations/sponsors have a lot more financial leverage on newspapers and websites that aim to make money from ads.

It's much more difficult to 'hack' paper ballots. While there's no perfect system, there's still a huge difference.

It's a logical consequence: the customer is always right, and the customer is whoever pays the product.

When people bought newspapers, they were the customers. Nowadays, big corporations are the customers.

Rotting Tomatoes is a percentage, ignore it.
The Imdb average is 9.0 and MC is 8.3, RT critic 7.8 and user 9.2! (adjusted to 10 scale)
Much higher user rating than critics. Imdb top rated TV #28, was higher a week ago.
My score 8, may drop to 7 if it doesn't improve. Sure to continue based on popularity.

I give it a 6, if it wasn't a Star Wars show....it would probably just be considered a very mediocre sci fi series
