putting people in carbon was a last minute decision only done because that's all they had on cloud city... not a standard way bounty hunters transport people...

Yeah, that's a fair beef. I mean they said straight up how radical and highly experimental it was and that it would likely just kill Han as preserve him. But I guarantee moving forward from this it's gonna be a standard part of the lore now. On account of it being really cool. I guess this takes place 5 year after ROTJ? I guess that's enough time to perfect the tech.

Plus this movie takes place after Empire, so Carbon freezing was probably made a lot safer and years of tinkering. Its like laser eye surgery, everyone used to freak out about it, but now its pretty routine. Boba Fett ,the most famous Mandalorian did it, so people probably wanted to emulate him.

Clearly it worked for Han and kept him alive. And clearly he wasn't the first person they'd done it too because his symptoms are explained to him when he is brought back ("I can't see." "Your eyesight will return...")

The way I see it, it's the easiest way to keep your quarry contained without taking up much space. Frankly, I'm surprised all ships carrying live cargo don't use that tech. Especially if you're hauling rathtars. ;)

It wasn't even done to Han so Boba could transport him - it was done to Han to see if people would survive the freezing process. Remember Vader wanted to freeze Luke and take him to the Emperor. If Han would have died, Vader said he'd compensate Boba for the bounty Jabba had on Han.

I guess it's plausible that once Boba took him to Jabba's Palace, word got out as to how he took him there, and other bounty hunters adopted it.

The Mandalorian takes place 5 years after the Return of the Jedi. So I assume, since things went so well with the Han Solo test in ESB, it has since become standard practice, and bounty hunters now prefer this method. Freezing in carbonite is now the new Apple Airpods.

all the responses are fair. I wasn't really bothered by it just felt like wrongly used fan service but these are all plausible explanations

Isn't Fett supposed to be dead at that point? Is it another Jango clone or did Boba escape the desert mouth thingy?

Yeah, pretty sure this Mandalorian is not Boba Fett. I've also heard that theory of Boba escaping from the Sarlaac Pit. But even if he did, I don't think this particular bounty hunter on the show is him.

Also, the Boba Fett in the original trilogy had two voices. The original voice was a deep Clint Eastwood-type voice, and it got replaced with New Zealand actor Temura Morrison's voice (who played Jango Fett in AOTC). So, assuming the Temura Morrison re-dub is now the official canon voice, the bounty hunter we see in Mandalorian doesn't have the same voice.

The other problem was the music. Everything about this show feels very slick and well produced except for the cheesy music.

Music was a very stock afterthought. It got the job done. Mostly ambient tones. Not special enough for the launch of the first ever live action Star Wars show.

Seems to me that they could have just reused a lot of the John Williams music and it would have been much more effective
