Congrats on 99 at Rotten Tomatoes.

I guess the review bombers have been successfully removed from the site. The movie makers have a lot to be proud of. 99 percent is almost unheard of! Even classics like Star Wars or The Godfather tend to have a few haters.

reply

Let’s not rush, it might be a good movie … even if it’s alternative history…

reply

That seems a little high. Is it genuine?

NOT SAYING IT'S A BAD MOVIE, I HAVEN'T SEEN IT.

But doesn't a score that high seem slightly suspicious? As you said, unheard of. Surely review-bombing can go both ways.

reply

It's verified reviews from opening day from it's biggest fans. It will drop as regulars watch it.

Only 2.7/5 on metacritic, which has less than 100 reviews making it easy subvert.

reply

2.7 out of 10, not 5.

reply

You can't rate on Rotten Tomatoes unless you bought a ticket online. That's why it's more accurate than imdb

reply

I sometimes buy movie tickets online just so I can rate a film on Rotten Tomatoes, despite never actually watching it

reply

That's fucking pathetic. Wasting money to give something a negative rating? Riiight.

reply

But I love doing it

reply

But that doesn't mean they can't have their biases toward certain movies. And the way Rotten Tomatoes works doesn't show how good the movie is. 10 people giving it a 6/10 will be 100% approval rating.

reply

Big whoop, it's still got low user scores on IMDb and Metacritic as of this post. Of course they can censor those too, but what will that accomplish in the long run?

reply

I always prefer going by IMDB ratings. I know there are a lot of fanboys/girls who rate movies on there 10's before they even come out, but when the dust settles the ratings tend to reflect my own opinion of them more accurately than those from the critics of RT or Metacritic with their woke agendas.

reply

Almost all the viewer reviews on RT are one-line 5 star jobs that say stuff like "Awsum movie! Loved it!"

reply

To be fair that's par for the course for RT reviews. The userbase on there has always been simple-minded.

IMDB reviewers are the best. Letterboxd is filled with sassy one-liner jokes trying to fish for likes, whilst RT is as you say, a bunch of simple reviews either praising the film or deriding it, oft offering little reasoning with most being simply one sentence long.

IMDB has it's issues but the prolific reviewers actually review the films and often give a few paragraphs detailing their reasoning.

reply

RT has been caught removing negative reviews of woke films. Only and idiot believes this.

reply

No shit, everything's fake nowadays.

reply

It's out of VERIFIED reviews. This is just proof that your racist incel review bombers don't actually watch movies. Just screech because someone DARED to tell a story about black women.

It's a shame it has to be this way too as instead of talking about the powerful metaphors, forever relevant themes, brilliantly-written sequences, beautiful soundtrack, near-perfect casting/dialogue of Viola Davis or even the overarching purpose of the movie...we have to deal with people whining about some creative liberties as if they have never seen a historical movie before.
