I wish I understood...

...if there was an intentional thread or commonality among all the things that "disappeared" from memory that we were supposed to piece together to make sense: Beatles, Oasis, Coca-Cola, cigarettes, Harry Potter, etc. or was it just random?

Also, how did John Lennon live? Did he write music as a young man but just never make it big or was he a guy who never started a band whatsoever in his youth?

reply

Most are random, I think, except for Oasis.
Oasis’s career was built off the back of the Beatles. Noel could not write any of his hits with no Beatles to copy.

I thought he should have googled Paul Weller too.

They kind of covered this. Alternative reality John Lennon says that he travelled the world and spent a lot of time at sea (or something to that effect). The real John Lennon’s dad was a sea-man so maybe new JL just followed in his fathers footsteps and never wrote music.

It doesn't matter because the scriptwriter was an idiot. This film was made purely to exploit the band and make money; not to make sense or make a great movie. In fact it was a terrible movie in the opinion of this Beatle fan and alternate reality story fan. I guess then I should write my own script. I will.
But I do recommend Blinded by the Light.

It was a very good film, according to this Beatles fan, and it made sense in every way. The script writer was brilliant.
