Beatles Music in the Modern World

The Beatles are without doubt the best rock & roll band there ever was. They aren't my *favorite* band, but one can't argue that they didn't write great pop songs. They covered numerous disparate genres, they survived and thrived in a time of vast musical change, their songs survive to this day and still sound amazing, and maybe most notable of all is just how many incredible songs they created.

All that said, if they appeared out of a vacuum today, would there be any place for them in the modern music market? I don't think they wouldn't find fans, but I suspect they'd languish in obscurity, making music that is too old-fashioned and too cerebral for mainstream radio/streaming. They'd have a following, maybe a fair amount of YouTube followers, but unless they drastically altered their music-- incorporated synths, drum machines, Auto-Tune, guest verses from rappers, gave it an EDM or hip hop feel-- they'd go nowhere.

If they appeared out of a vacuum today one would assume they would write music of the time.

And most likely improve on it tremendously.

Who are the Beatles?

Insects?

Not sure I agree.

Most musical artists, both contemporary and those from the time The Beatles were active, are lucky if they have more than one or two songs on an album that are outstanding. The Beatles managed to fill entire albums with outstanding songs, and they did this album after album. They would do the same today.

It’s because they were creative and played well off each other. You’re assuming if they were alive today they wouldn’t be making contemporary music.
