So is this show any good?

I'm taking the 3 imdb reviews that say 10/10 with a grain of salt.

reply

I watched the first 3 episodes and it was pretty good so far. I don't think it is a 10/10, but I would rate it around a 7 or 8/10. It is worth checking out.

reply

Thanks! I will check it out then!

reply

Yes.

I don't know whether I'll still think so after it's over, since endings in the horror genre are often a letdown, but it's really good so far.

Also, nice to see Rupert Grint in an actual adult role - I don't believe I've seen him in anything since Harry Potter.

Enjoying it so far. It has a tendency to spin its wheels but the characters are well written and acted (as usual in a Shyamalan production). MNS only produced this. He does not direct nor write it but it still has his flavor for sure. I hope it stays good to the end.

reply

He actually did direct the first episode (and the 9th), which I'm sure was to set the blueprint for the rest of the season. I definitely agree with the "spin its wheels" comment. That would be my biggest criticism. I just wish there was more progression because so many of the episodes feel the same.

I tried See, dickinson, and Servant. Servant is easily the best for its moodiness.

I am upto episode 7 and it is excellent.
The episodes last for around 40 mins I think, but the time passes really quickly - which is a sign that the show is good.
So far, the show is like a supernatural mystery - a baby doll has been replaced by a living baby (or been brought to life). And the father of the house is trying to work out what the hell is going on.
The nanny definitely has something to do with this.
The brother in law is very suspicious of the nanny.
The mother of the house thinks everything is fine.

So far, the audience is guessing of how the baby came to life and what the deal is with the nanny.

reply

ok thanks. I will binge it when its complete;)

It's excellent... Very suspensful and creepy... Yet also manages to connect on a human level, you feel empathy for people in the latter episodes...

I've seen the entire season... It's worthwhile and I tend not to like TV shows (i prefer movies)... This has a movie/mini-series vibe to it... Much tighter than usual shows, with less overexplanation...

Is it just me, or does it look like the wife aged about a decade since season one and gained about ten pounds?
It almost reminds me of a line in Army of Darkness by Ash: “Honey you got real ugly.”

reply

Lmao. I love Army of Darkness. Ash has some of the best lines.

Last season I was really bothered by all the warts on her face.

This season I noticed they haven't been showing her in good lighting.

Into season 2 episode 6... wife is totally evil and insane. Husband and brother are blind enablers. All their actions are totally unrealistic. But, it’s a horror series, so we’ll have to just take it with a grain of salt.
