On YouTube, there's a relatively recent interview with Daddario and she mentions working on a movie where the third act/ending was changed at the last minute. I would bet money it was WSTD. The third act is crazier in the original script. My theory is that this was just a paycheck for the director and he wanted to rush through it so he begin working on "Human Capital" as soon as possible.

Where did you find the original script?

Your theory is correct about the director. The movie was completed in the same month that he flew back to his home in New York where Human Capital was made...albeit he began filming it a couple of months later.
