Such a shame this didn't a few Oscar nods

For me at least, Best Actor for Robert Pattinson, Best Supporting Actor for William Dafoe, Best Cinematography, and Best Director. This film was probably my favorite from 2019 along with Parasite.

At least Dafoe not getting a Oscar nod has to go down as a blunder.

I feel the exact same way. I guess we're not cool enough to hate it.

I'd sooner give Dafoe the nom than Pitt for OUATIH

What a travesty Dafoe didn’t even get a nomination, and even more ludicrous Pitt won for acting like he does in 99% of his films. Pattinson was good too, both deserved a nomination.

reply

Dafoe was robbed... And if anyone in OUATIH deserved an Oscar it was DiCaprio.

reply

Yeah because farting, mumbling, and masturbating to a tiny sculpture is oscar worthy.

It definitely deserved a nomination for Dafoe. I can’t say it really deserved any other nomination for me though. Still, it landing even one well deserved nomination for cinematography is some justice, as this film probably would’ve been skipped over in every other alternate timeline like Hereditary and Midsommar did. Robert Eggers has alot of great ideas and I think he may wound up being one of this generation’s big names in filmmaking. One of these days he’ll wrack up some more Oscars.
