Is this story padded out some? Seven episodes? Is it worth watching?

Because I'm towards the end of the second episode and I'll be danged, we just went home with the detective in Colorado, to apparently dive into her personal life (her kid, relationship with her husband), etc. We're all in the kitchen, talking, talking...

I like this show so far, but this kind of thing is starting to seem common with these mini-series...introducing elements to the story that don't seem to have much to do with the actual story.

The story here is about a girl who's found to be telling the truth in a rape case that nobody believed in initially. Do we really have to delve into one of the detective's personal lives in order to tell it?
Maybe its impatience...and having already wondered how they managed to stretch this story into seven episodes, but is this worth sitting through? Both this relationship stuff and the series, I guess?

There’s a lot more assaults involving a serial rapist coming up
The two lead detectives are working relentlessly to find him and this of course affects their home lives.
It has to be touched upon.

Thanks for this Yatzo. Funny, just needed to hear something like that to keep on watching, I did, and you were spot on. Great series here, thanks again.

It's not a documentary. You're going to find the same kinds of elements you'd find in a series about fictional events. It just happens to be a true story. It doesn't sound like it's worth sitting through for you, but I personally didn't find it drawn out at all.

I didn't really care for it, thought the show was about twice as long as it should have been, and the scenes with the two detectives talking were boring and pointless. There were good scenes in the show as well, but it was, in my opinion, extremely padded.

I didn't feel it was padded, or that anything that was said in the show turned out to be unnecessary (including specifically those conversations with the husband). I agree with the poster above, this isn't a documentary. You have a strangely unforgiving attitude towards story-telling.

The girl was believed initially btw, she just messed it up with contradictory statements.

And it's eight episodes, not seven.

And you're a bit argumentative lol
I wouldn't call it strangely unforgiving...mostly a bit of trepidation after having sat through a few miniseries that seemed unnecessarily drawn out. Wanted to know others' impression before I invested the time...it wasn't meant to be a scathing review or anything.
Anyway, just finished up and heck yeah, that was well worth it, much tighter than I anticipated there and a great story that deserved to be handled the way it was.

Glad you liked it.

I thought it was gripping. We watched the series in two nights, the episodes went by quickly, and the way each one ended made us want to watch the next immediately!
