Too depressing. Should I keep watching?

I wanted to quit after the first 15 minute but managed to make it to the end of the pilot. The final scene got me curious so I watched the second episode. Still found it too depressing but again, a character showing up in the final scene got me curious again (Netflix has a formula to make people binge watch their series).

Does it get less hard to watch?

No doubt this is a gut wrenching series and the crimes are portrayed in painful realism. However, hope arrives in episode 2 and 3 when the two female detectives come more and more in to the story. Right away you will see the professional compassionate way they approach the case sharply contrasted with the callous hacks that botched Marie’s case. This becomes a major story line and it is fascinating to see them investigate this case, follow leads, work with colleagues who use sophisticated CSA type tools. These two actresses put on tour de force performances, as does the whole cast. The actress who plays Marie is also incredible.
