It was alright. I enjoyed it.

A bit of woke propaganda here and there but they didn't rub your nose in it. It looks great and Millie Bobby Brown really is a very good actress. Sure the story could have used a bit more work but then that seems to be par for the course these days, near enough seems to be good enough.

There's only one place for woke propaganda: printed on rolls of toilet paper.

quite well done. entertaining. she's resourceful and a little too effective, but not an unstoppable Mary Sue, as she nearly dies a few times.

Once I saw Enola break the forth wall and I just decided to enjoy the film and not take it seriously. Even if it's obvious that who ever wrote the script was on some woke crusade I hope they do better when Netflix asks them to rewrite "Roots" for the new age.

The movie is based off of the book The Case of the Missing Marquess by Nancy Springer, so it's not like Netflix wrote the story

As I explained in another post:

Although the movie was based on a book. But most things in the book were ignored.

In the book Enola disguised as a widow from the beginning. She did not meet the young Tewksbury on the train. She run across a police detective and that was how she landed on the case. Also there was no assassin, Tewksbury was kidnapped at home.

Of course there were no female militant group and her mother actually gone to live with the Romani (Gypsies).

So all the points that were problematic were added in the movie by writers and directors, probably in a rush, for the "inspirational" & political messages.

I'd watch a sequel just for Millie and the Tewksbury kid. They had great chemistry and were written well. However, the rest of the writing left a lot to be desired. I would like a more intelligent approach to the detective work and continuity.

My biggest problem with the film was that her mother didn't have to abandon her without a word and leave silly clues. On top of that, the mother is a terrorist which ruins the very foundation of the quest.
My lesser problems include: Low T Sherlock. Mycroft is evil Republican. Enola supposed to not know about outside world but has keen insights to outside world details.

Not a great movie but the leads were engaging. I'm happy for MBB.
