This was absorbing and non-pretensious -- unlike The Witch

Feel the same way about this movie that you feel about “The Witch”. Oh btw I saw “The Witch” twice in the theatres, but it won’t be so with this. “The Witch” was more a straightforward & clearer movie than this was. After viewing this, I had to ask myself what the hell was it I just watched?!

This was a snooze fest until maybe the last few minutes, so if by “The real deal” you mean this was action packed, that this was a quote on quote “great movie” well I got to disagree. Both “TW” & this were fine movies but this nowhere lived up to the hype but that’s just me, or is it?

I thought The Witch was a garbage self-serving boring slug of a movie. This movie on the other hand stayed interesting from moment to moment transcending and seemingly switching genres throughout.

I agree. I was extremely bored by the Witch but found this movie very entertaining and easy to watch. I think sort of the way it was filmed and the atmosphere were somewhat similar.

I love both of them.

The Witch has long been on my list of movies to rewatch because I saw it at the theater with a friend after a few drinks and was too buzzed to grasp what I was watching. We may as well have been watching a comedy because whenever something was said that we didn't understand we'd just start laughing. No idea if it was a good movie but it was a fun movie going experience lol

But I really liked Hereditary!

I disliked "The Witch" and this! LOL! But I did enjoy "It Comes At Night" and "The Blackcoat's Daughter."

I liked The Witch and also this. I wouldn't call this a horror movie so much though as a suspenseful family drama that creeped me out at times. Toni Collette was excellent in this too.
