There is one episode where a crew member becomes emotional and raises his voice during a stressful encounter on the bridge, which Spock tells him there is no need to raise his voice. After the encounter, the crew member explains to Mr. Spock that he has a amygdala that process fear and is why he became excited. Mr. Spock suggests to the ensign that he should have it removed.
