Would have liked it better if (spoilers)..

She had actually spent some time agonizing over her decision. The crisis in the movie was purely logistical. How can I get an abortion without my parents' permission? How can I get to New York? Where can I stay? Where can I get some money? The only time she showed any emotion was when she was being asked about her sexual relationships with men (the scourge of the world, of course). She took the time to take an obligatory glance at the screen when she was getting her first sonogram, but then she looked away in disinterest, even as the heart beat was sounding. And when it was over, it was simply time to go back home.

I don't think it would have made sense for her to agonize over the decision. It wouldn't have fit with her character. She didn't want a baby, wasn't ready, and was not planning or expecting to get pregnant. If there was a big moral dilemma, that wouldn't have felt true to the story.

The crisis was caused more by negligent parents. They didn't even needed a lot of money, and she refused when the conselor offered her a place to stay.
