What is that mask thing he wears?

I know its a mask, but what's it made from? It looks...odd, and you never really seem to get a decent look at it. Wtf is it? Its got to be homemade...what'd he make it out of?

That goddamn mask has been bugging me...forgot I could post about it. Anyone have any idea what that thing is?
