Has anyone here seen the original?
The original is a fantastic noir. It will be interesting to see how this one turns out considering the all-star cast.

shareThe original was great! Like you, I think it will be interesting to see what they do with it as the cast is pretty good.
shareThe original is one of my favorite films
shareI discovered it by accident a few months ago and was amazed at how enthralling it was. I have to admit too, its one of the best of the genre and sadly not many people have seen it let alone heard about it.
shareGreat novel also.
shareDo you think its still worth reading if you have seen the movie first?
shareYes, because while they have similar plot points the story is different. More realistic as it wasn't bound by the codes of 40's films. It was a best seller in the day.
I hope the new movie is a film of the novel rather than remake of the film.
Oh okay thanks. Might find that one pretty hard to find though.
shareSeen the original (which is great) and read the book (also great). Del Toro is a good fit for the story.
shareYeah, the original is excellent.
shareThe original is one of Tyrone Power's best non-action performances, along with "Witness for the Prosecution".
sharei'm checking out the novel, and then will see the 2021 film, and then revisit the old one
sharetyrone power's best movie
shareI've seen both the original and new one.
The original is better in almost everyway despite being made 74 years prior.
I didn´t expect the new one to be better but is it still a good film?
shareYeah in isolation it's a pretty good film. A proper A-Class Hollywood production (good cinematography, sets and costumes) with a lot of talent behind it, a top class cast...it's just when you compare it to the 1947 film it doesn't have the same quality. It takes nearly 40 minutes more to tell the same story only not as well (in my opinion).
It's worth a watch for sure.
