How am I an SJW? I just told you about comicbook lore. This is a group that has been around for years. That is a statement of fact.

As for the subtitle, chances are, it's about Harley leaving Joker behind which, once again, goes back a long time.

'Emancipation' is a very woke buzz-term. It's directly bringing attention to the idea that Harley has freed herself from the Joker's toxic masculinity.

Personally, I like this theme, assuming that's where the film is going. I've always preferred to see what kind of person Harley could be without being under the Joker's shadow. What I dislike however is the filmmakers' need to bring attention to their 'wokeness'. It's cloying and smug.

Margot Robbie just had to let everyone know she was the star. Probably a compromise since the studio preferred to do this over a Harley Quinn solo movie. Don't know who's idiotic idea it was to use the "word" fantabulous

They're obviously trying to capitalise on the goofy, "zany" personality of Harley Quinn by putting the title in some kind of "Harleyspeak" to make it cute and wacky. It's a little screwy, but...whatever. People will probably just call it Birds of Prey.

It doesn't work.

That could work if the title was a ironic joke in itself, and that would fit Harley Quinn's sense of humor. If would be some kind of meta-reference, with the main character breaking the fourth wall and joking about herself in the very title of the movie.

The problem is that the title is neither ironic or a joke. They're presenting Harley Quinn as a fabulous emancipated feminist role-model. No hidden irony, it's 100% serious. The joke, if any, is that they're presenting a character that is literally insane as a role-model, but I'm afraid that enters the field of involuntary comedy.

I didn't say it was a good joke. I do think it's supposed to be "from" Harley Quinn, but I think that's a promise of jokes they won't really follow through on (ie, it implies a meta movie about a meta character ala Deadpool, but they aren't going to actually have Robbie break the fourth wall). It looks a lot like Suicide Squad to me: they're trying too hard without a really good script.
