Where are the anti-SJW...

Captain Marvel haters?

Funny...you've got a DC Film just dripping in wokeness and...*crickets*.

reply

Margot Robbie is hot...Brie Larson is not.

reply

Well...they covered her up in this all #me too style.

reply

LOL you might not like Brie Larson but to act like she’s not hot. Both of them are hot in their own way.

reply

Hell yes!

reply

[deleted]

Have you seen that Jimmy Kimmel episode with her as the Host?
Holy Moly!!!

reply

Brie was hot and funny as JKL host too.

reply

Wrong both are fugly. Kat Dennings is where its at

reply

Also Margot hasn't gone out of her way to be sexist/racist like Larson.

reply

Where was Larson racist?

And the sexist part you don't need to explain. I know the interview clip, and it's all overblown, as usual.

reply

Of course it's overblown. These guys go out of their way to find things that they can bitch about. We have FREE WILL. If you don't like something don't Fing watch it!!!

reply

But they only bitch about Disney/Marvel/Star Wars about this stuff.

Hardly any of them say a word when DC goes woke.

reply

LOL I don't have a dog in the fight. There seems to be rival factions.

reply

Twitter has blue checks saying this movie will own the manbabies, but nobody is crying about boycotting it so it seems like Twitter is working on overdrive trying to manufacture some white male outrage to fill the void. Some "woke" complaints aside, nobody is hurt over this. Anti-SJWs are more pressed over the latest season of Doctor Who than some Harley Quinn flick.

Honestly, the Harley Quinn character doesn't interest me whatsoever so I had no desire to see this from the get-go.

reply

Of course no one is calling to boycott this...it's not Disney.

reply

The Mouse is evil, that's why people boycott it.

reply

What's "evil" about it in comparison to the rest of the Hollywood studios?

reply

Who take Twitter seriously? I've never made one post on Twitter and I rarely read anything on it.

reply

The media unfortunately, just last week a famous British newsreader Alistair Stewart was fired from his job at ITV, a career spanning 40 years, due to quoting Shakespeare to a man on Twitter which was misinterpreted as racism.

reply

Well he should have known better. People need to be very careful on social media if they have a high profile job. If you don't realize that and protect yourself that's on you.

reply

Big media companies follow the online rules of social media because it gets them a bigger audience.

The reason for Twitter's rules and narrative is because they fit with the majority of the world's cultures. Big media companies know they help their bottom line by agreeing with those cultures.

If you are not interested in abiding by those rules, then stay off of Twitter. I am perfectly fine with their rules, and I still don't use it. So I don't see what the problem is.

reply

Yeap. Harley Quinn is a relatively new character. It has a lot of potential, and I think they're gonna screw it hard. But they're not screwing classic stories.

The effect, more than complains, it's lack of interest.

reply

I notice they seem to go easier on DC films whenever "girl power" is in full display. Not sure why.

reply

What about people who aren't part of "they" and are just tired of the preaching? What about people who think it looks so bad that they don't plan on seeing it?

Perhaps there is less "misogyny" behind the detractors than is being high-octane portrayed in this and Cpt Marvel etc.

reply

There have been a bunch of anti-SJW YouTube videos made about this movie.

reply

I hate how youtoob promotes these troll reviews. Search "birds of prey" and I see AngryJoe and NerdTron, but neither have many views. Stuckmann and Jeremy Jahns have a shitload of views. DumbCock suffering from ST Picard derangement!

reply

Good question! For a movie being marketed on its wokeness it's not getting those darn white males angry enough to get it the level of exposure of CM and others, hah. But seriously, I think it's just not as well-steeped in controversy, and Harley is not as popular.

CM had Larson's racist, sexist commentary going for it, and the debate over the movie being shoehorned into the MCU in time for Endgame to push its agenda when directors of the previous Avengers movies didn't want the character. And Harley just seems less well known to me so I doubt people are expecting a much different narrative that what it'll deliver. Admittedly I'm not a comic book aficionado but she's just Joker's sidekick/girlfriend and a literal clown, not a criminal mastermind.

reply

Because this movie is barely being hyped, if i didn't see Margot Robbie at Hot Ones, i never even knew the movie was out.

reply

It gets a little complicated. Overall it has to do with the MCU's track record for success and DC's unpredictability.

Many anti-SJW MCU fans feel like the MCU is perfect the way it is and don't want it ruined by post-gamergate feminism. Even though Captain Marvel didn't ruin anything, anti-SJWs didn't want to take that chance. It didn't matter if Captain Marvel was a good movie or not. There was plenty within the MCU for anti-SJWs to enjoy without it.

With the DCEU, it's already been damaged by bad decisions in the past. BvS, SS and JL were dragged through the mud just for being bad movies and not because of some SJW agenda. DCEU fans are more likely to give extreme feminism a chance because they are more concerned with the DCEU getting good movies under their belt than they are concerned with SJW politics.

If Nolan suddenly decided to return and managed to bring the franchise to a higher standard, then you'd probably see anti-SJWs try to reign in the SJW politics. But because of DC's mixed bag of failure and success, they are pretty much free to try whatever they want.

reply

That's an interesting theory.

reply

I have a better theory. Firstly, Harley Quinn is actually a popular comic book character. Captain Marvel has never been popular, and in the last few years has become actively hated. The comic books were already drenched in wokeness. Secondly, Suicide Squad was a bad film, and Margot Robbie's portrayal was one of the better things the movie had going for it. Thirdly, the DC films are not really interconnected at this point, so it's not going to ruin anything else that is going on.
