How do you think it really works?

Since competition shows are usually up to the producers' discretion as to who wins, do you think that this is more up to the producers or to the "stars"?

I'm thinking, and of course could be so very wrong, that the producers contact some celebs, and see if they want to be on the show. How much they want to appear could have something to do with how long they are on the show. Or it could just be how long they want. I just don't really think that the audience has any say.

I THINK IF IT WAS ENGINEERED LIKE THAT,SEASON ONE WOULD HAVE HAD A DIFFERENT WINNER.....T PAIN?,REALLY?

reply

This show just doesn't really make sense to me though. I can't figure out why they keep some and not others. Like I said, I could be wrong. I'm really jaded on these types of shows because even the shows with the nobodies are completely manipulated and fake.

ITS MY DAUGHTER'S FAVORITE SHOW THAT I DONT WATCH...SHE CAME OUT ALL UPSET AT THE END OF SEASON ONE CAUSE SHE HAD NO IDEA WHO T PAIN WAS...

reply

Did she know who Donnie Osmond was?

I've only actually seen a couple of episodes, but there have been a few people that I don't have a clue who they are either.

reply

DONNIE AND MARIE ARE IN HER KNOWLEDGE BANK...I HAVE WORKED HARD TO DOWNLOAD ASMUCH OF MY KNOWLEDGE INTO HER BRAIN.

reply

I used to have Donnie and Marie dolls.

reply

I'm waiting for the person to take off the mask and the judges have no clue who it is?

reply

You mean like me? My wife watches and I sit through it as penance for watching The Godfather 10000 times..

But watching the judges guessing who is in the costume makes me think they all aren't given little "packets" of clues to study. Nothing that outright gives up the contestant directly, but enough to tie in with the clues they are given during the show.

reply

LOL!!!!!!!!!

reply

I told my wife, I'm pretty sure the panelists are given a list of possibles among whom are the contestants. Let's face there is no way they know all those people they guess. She replied "You don't know that!" Now I'm the one doing penance.

reply

In my case, I honesty don't think I've ever even heard of half of them, much less know what they sound like!

Yeah, as far as penance, some wives are just worth it. It's true in my case. If my wife wants to watch this show and (shudder) Dancing With the Stars, I'll just have to suck it up and be glad I can watch with her. If it makes her happy, it makes me happy.

reply

Now I'm positive they must be given a list of possibles. Last night, the guest judge came up with the right answer out of thin air when all the experienced judges didn't have a clue.

I knew some of T-pain's songs but still had no idea who he was. I had to google him and then I understood. I absolutely loved him though.

It works because, as H.L. Mencken wrote, “Nobody ever went broke by underestimating the taste of the American public.”

Preach!

No, I don’t think so. If the celebrity’s duration was predetermined then you wouldn’t have had Mickey Rourke unmasking himself and bailing! That wreck was so worried he wouldn’t get voted off right away and would have to endure giving another sad performance. Not to mention he would have had to continue with all the prepping, like choreography and blocking, for his own songs plus the group numbers.

LeAnn Rimes stated it very well after she was unmasked this week. This show is a LOT of work. She hadn’t expected it to be that hard. Just the hours standing around in costume must be brutal. Plus you have all the rehearsals for blocking, choreography, and learning the order of the episode. It’s very demanding.

Rourke didn’t have the guts nor the stamina to go out with grace.

reply

I think that was staged. Cannon didn't seem surprised when Mickey Rourke pulled his mask off.

reply

Geez. Who cares? It’s jus more trailer trash shit from Fox.

reply

Hahaha! Are you grumpy today? Your reply a couple of years ago at least bashed the American public.

If it matters, my grandma watched the first season and we were talking about it, so I was curious and I watched a couple of episodes.
