Siobhan .... (?question?)

Great character in a very bizarre show.

They call her "Shiv" every chance they get ... so, my question is,
first ... do you know what "shiv" means? A knife or razor used as
a weapon.

There must be a significance to Siobhan 's nickname, Shiv, so what
do you think it is, and how to expect it will be applied?

Does it means she will destroy the rest of the family, or that she is
being used as a weapon for Brian Cox as Logan Roy to keep his
family and employees in line?

reply

I just thought it was a shortened version of her name, since Siobhan is pronounced “shiv-VON”

Pretty lady, btw...

reply

I've only heard it pronounced show-bon.

reply

To be sure I did a quick search. All hits say it is pronounced

Shi-van or

Shi-vawn.

I couldn't find show-bon or any variant of it anywhere.

reply

It's just the shortened version of her name.

reply

Shiv means knife, or to knife someone, as in unexpectedly or in a fight.

reply

It's just the shortened version of her name.

reply

Yeah, I'm sure it's intentional. Her secret meetings with Logan are all about him using her metaphorically as a hidden weapon.

Just finished season 2, what a great show.
