It was pretty conniving of her to move out to LA and then file for divorce from Charlie. However, Charlie isn't entirely blameless either. Aside from the affair with his stage director (sorry spoilers) it's evident from flashbacks he has a controlling personality. While he's not abusive, he remains capable of thoughtless and callous behavior towards Nicole.
