Rip off Kramer vs. Kramer.

When I watched Marriage Story, my mind keep thinking: " I've seen this before."

Everybody criticize Avatar use same story as Dances with Wolves, but Marriage Story does the same thing. Why everybody hate Avatar, but love this?

This movie was more realistic. Their son was such a brat towards the father.

reply

I would say that make Kramer more "realistic", a lot of kids are brat.

Let me clarify. I meant that brat in Marriage Story treated his father horribly. I thought the Kramer kid had a better relationship with his.

The Marriage Story divorce felt more realistic too especially when the father seemed to be losing everything to his wife and helpless to stop it.

"a lot of kids are brat."
That's another reason why M.S. felt realistic to me. The Kramer kid was just a sweet kid most of the time.

What???? I though in Marriage Story, he is normal kid. But in Kramer, I want to punch that kid.

"when the father seemed to be losing everything to his wife and helpless to stop it." This happen in Kramer too! More "helpless" I would say.

I agree about the son being a brat to the father in Marriage Story. At the beginning of the film we see that the dad has a great relationship with his son. The dad was always reading to him. The kid would go to dad, not mom, when he was scared at night and couldn't sleep. But after the kid moved to California it was like he wanted nothing to do with his dad. His brattiness seemed excessive given the situation. Both parents had recently moved so it's not like the mother's new house would be "home" to him at that point.

Thanks for saving me from watching this movie. Kramer vs Kramer was lame. Why should watch a shitty ripoff. Maybe the next time they make something called Marriage Story. Maybe it should be about people who actually like being married to each other. Just a thought.

Is it? It seemed like it. I didn't care for KvK because I was never a child of divorce but I had friends who were, so it never "hit home" so to speak.

The Kilo Ren actor kinda bugs me in a superficial way. I've seen him in a handful of other family dramadies and he just seems out of place playing a domestic character. He really seems better suited for more awkward or terrifying roles. I don't mean that as a knock on his looks, but playing domestic types just seems like I'm watching Will Farrell doing Shakespeare or Robin Williams doing porn.
