I believe what the film was attempting to showcase was that raising children requires two parents to be effective, and that divorce is a traumatizing experience, especially for the children.

If he is enjoying life, and feels lucky to be alive. Imagine his parents saw a movie and decided not to have him.
Then he can contemplate the existential question of how it would feel like to not be fortunate enough to exist.
The same goes for his future unborn or born children.

If he never existed, then he didn't miss out on anything, because he can't experience missing out on life, he's just nothing. And a world without those famous figures would be no different to the average person, not just because they would've been replaced by other famous figures, but also because they wouldn't be able to know that they missed out on anything.
If there was a 'what-if' machine that showed you what you could have had, whether it being an aborted baby or an artist we never got to experience, then I would agree with you. But there isn't, so I don't care

This is true, but now that we know that they have lived, we know what an immense contribution they have made, good or for bad.
That is my whole point. The original poster knows he exists, so he can imagine a scenario where he didn't exist. If, for example, his parents saw a movie and decided not to have him.
