Intelligent low budget Sci Fi

Low budget sci fi. Extremely nihilistic, bleak and in places quite shocking. Some performances better than others. It could be seen as a analogy of how we are doing irreversible damage to our planet, or a piece that shows how humans would behave given impending doom.

The limited budget does show in places, with most of the action taking place in everyday locations that are supposedly on board this spaceship that is taking passengers to Mars. And there's a clever technique of putting the film into another world, even though the technology used in the movie is a bit dubious. But pound for pound it is a very entertaining, thought provoking film.

weird, crazy movie, had tones of pandorum in it. overall it was decent and probably a good representation of what would happen if this really did happened.

things that didnt make sense. MIMA, the probe they couldnt open, the irony of the ship finally making it to another earthlike world...

production, acting, effects were really good though. it was highly believable that this ship actually existed...

"it was highly believable that this ship actually existed"
First of all the spaceship is highly unbelievable with all the wasted space and high ceilings etc, second of all, if we had the technology to build such a ship, we would have the technology to send a rescue mission on after them.

reply

How many spaceships have you been on? What are spaceships supposed to look like?

They sent a rescue with the probe that was sent.

Everyone's seen pics of the ISS, perhaps Skylab too. Very small compared to Sci Fi. Just put a rocket on them.

Is it better than Cube?

But what’s your two-bits worth, Worth?

And thanks.

Was just quoting the film.

Yeah least you know it's good though. So many one-liners in that film.

I think it was the cop. But Levin the number cruncher had a few golden one liners too. ‘They’re not tarot cards".

Ha yeah same here.

reply

Probably not. But it's still worth watching.

reply

OK cheers i’ll still give it a go.

It was a bit weird in places, but overall it was quite enjoyable to watch, especially the ending.

And using close-up shots, so have no need of a big developed set.
