The pit bull dog. Rookie officer Chen is recovering from being kidnaped and almost killed, so she gets a big slobbering giant pit bull dog to aid in her trauma recovery. It really bothers me that they had to make this dog a pit bull. Given the record of pit bulls, why would they do that. It is not a good message to be sending out to the viewing public.

shareOK, let me put it to you in simple terms. I like to compare pits/"dangerous" breeds vs small dogs to men vs women drivers. It's like this - women make more mistakes, annoying, small accidents etc which you don't hear about. Men make less accidents, but, when they do, it's the "entire family killed" type of accident.
Again, I'm saying it as a vet - bring me a pit over a yapper any time. Yappers are small, scared and vicious. Pits are strong, energetic and, true, not for everyone, but, generally, sweethearts.
You're no vet. And I see what microscopic point you have, but you are talking temperament. But what you are ignoring is the reality that in terms of dogs, Pit Bulls are loaded shotguns with a hair trigger ready to go off, the little yappy ones are pop guns. Pit Bulls are deadly weapons, the one dogs are merely annoyances. A yappy dog cannot inflict much damage, a Pit Bull can kill you or a kid. People who like Pit Bulls are thoughtless people who like the idea and don't care about reality. They are anti-social fools to take that chance. The whole breed should be wiped out.

The only thing you are focusing are fatal attacks. And in that, true, pit bulls are ahead of the rest. But you forget one simple thing - those dogs are, usually, trained to attack. If you treat your pit as a pet, you won't get a better dog. The main reason we don't recommend pits as pets is the unwillingness of the owner to properly raise them. They are energetic and playful and need to be taught control. That is why they aren't recommended to families with small children. Not because they'll bite, but they play rough. Although they also have a very strong nurturing instinct and will protect the kids with their lives.
The most common mistake people make with dogs like pit bulls is taking one as a pet without having any experience with dogs. I've heard it described as "driving a Ferrari after just getting your licence".
I agree that Pitbulls are mostly awesome and don't attack. But when they do they fuck cunts up. A shitzu or a labrador may bite more often but it won't lockjaw and almost kill. Pitbulls have been known to kill or dismember people. I'm not saying the all do most don't. But if I had a kid I wouldn't have a Pitbull.
