The constant barrage of her background was so unnecessary

Initially the show is suspenseful and very interesting. But as the show goes on, too much time is spent with her constant whining (in her head) about her youth. There's nothing wrong with a little bit of background to understand a character, but this show harped on it every chance it go. Rehashing the same crap over and over and over regarding her dad and brother...…….WE GET IT!

Eventually the show is just stuck there. With Kaley Cuoco's constant bottle-sucking, over-the-top hysterical acting. It was so stuck that at one point I thought, "Oh, yeah, there's a murder in this story somewhere."

They should've aired this on Lifetime. That's a better spot for all this drama.

Totally agree. I've only made it to episode 4 and it's already so repetitive. I'm not sure if I can finish it.

I finished it and my two problems are too many flashbacks. And the last episode. They just threw everything but the kitchen sink in that ending.

In shows, if a person has a problem with alcohol or drugs, it is because of some trauma or their parents. It is never because they feel great. It is this soft deceit that disarms the anti-drug commercials, IMO. Kids just know that it feels good they like it.

I disagree that people only develop substance abuse problems because of early trauma. The physiological basis of addiction is not well understood, nobody really knows why some people will develop a physical or psychological addiction and others will not.

But some people out there want to believe that recreational use can't lead to addiction, and others want to believe that all addicts are trauma victims, when addiction seems to be a massive mixed bag of behaviors, susceptibilities, and physical and psychological factors we don't understand well. IMHO the only thing true of all addicts... is that they are all addicted.

True.
But the soldiers in the war on drugs never acknowledge that a very large % of addicts became addicts because the drugs feel great. Like they are afraid to talk about that because it might lead some mush-headed youth to give it a try. Same applies to alcohol.

Selective omission of facts for the good of the populace. Sounds all too familiar.

IMHO it is not true that all addicts are addicts because of some past horrific trauma.

But it is true that people with past horrific traumas are highly likely to become addicts.
