A question (Disgusting content warning!)

When Nile grabs the pharma CEO and jumps out of the building, their bodies suppose to smash together. What happened to that rich twat? Is there any chance that he gains immortal power in this way?

reply

Prob not. The immortals were specifically chosen by God. I don't think CEO guy had the character requirements to run that program.

reply

I think Harry Melling portrayed a convincing villain in this film. If there is a sequel (which is most likely), it will be a missed opportunity not to bring him back.

reply

God doesn't exist, according to Andy. They didn't understand how immortals were chosen.

reply

I thought it had smth to do with the weapons they were killed with, like some alien mineral/meteorite thing. I thought maybe Dudley gettin struck by that axe will make him immortal too, roflmao!

reply

Nah! If the immortality were in any way transferable(especially that easily), they would have discovered that thousands of years before.

reply

Well, thousands of years before they don't have human genetic research and evil-genius scientist who found the cure for cancer. There is a first time for everything.

reply

What does genetic research have to do with jumping out of a building and getting smushed together from a 10 story drop?

reply

LOL

reply

I agree that their bodies getting smashed together may not help Merrick become immortal, but perhaps help to prevent him from dying immediately. In that situation, his scientists may have enough time to rescue him with the newly developed cure for becoming immortal or some genetic stuff extracted from the samples of all four.

reply

I get what you're going for here, but think about that from a story standpoint. Say for example them going splat together somehow gave him a bit of her healing ability and saves him from a 100% unsurvivable fall. That means that the healing can be transferred (at least temporarily) via blood.

That would mean that in the 5,000 years or so Charlize Theron has been alive, neither she nor the other immortals ever tried the incredibly obvious thing of a blood transfusion to heal someone. Even cavemen tried rudimentary methods of swapping blood. That would be a massive plot hole and make the characters seem like histories biggest dumbasses.

reply

The author of the comic said he's not interested in explaining how immortality works. It could mean that it is open for interpreting in the sequel. Maybe Charlize Theron did try to save someone with her blood before, but found it only lead to a slow death with more suffering.

reply

I assumed they didn't have blood transfusion even in late 19th century when Brooker's son was dying of cancer.
Why not try to save your own son, right?

reply

Was anyone else reminded of the Dick Tracy villain Flat Top whenever he was in a scene? lol.
