A lovely and wonderful anime.

Lovely, sad, and beautiful all at the same time. It's the story of two girls escaping a dystopic, post-apocalyptic bottom world, and trying to reach the upper levels where they hope to find food, fuel for their Kettenrad, and people.

That said, it is not an action or shoot-em-up show. It's very wordy, as the story is about the two girls in a world where all they have is each other, and even though it can be quite depressing as they move from mundane day to mundane day, trying to survive, and where a potato is an unexpected feast, their interactions and hope make it well worth watching.
