Finally. A Decent New Show.

I guess we have to look to non-American production companies to get shows that aren't juvenile, locker room trash, filled with childish potty humor.

reply

Which American shows do you watch that you have such a low opinion of them?

I mean, there are so many great ones that I never even have the time to watch everything.

reply

Clearly you're their target audience then. Not a negative. I'm just the minority apparently. Personally I'm sick of childish humor and potty talk being at the forefront of everything nowadays. I lost count how many times I have to see a character taking a piss, or worse. Simply because it can be aired. It's like I'm watching stories thought up by grade schoolers. Every character is self centered and childish. Immaturity is something that doesn't appeal to me.

Granted, this show tackled "pissing", but it was done in a way that was funny. Not in a way told by a 3 year old. I watch many American shows. I don't have a choice. I have to accept what's being shown. Some are decent, some are acceptable. A few are even pretty good. But the overdone formula of the whiny, self centered, immature, confused, tortured outcast with some sort of addiction, has been done to death and seems to be the only character Hollywood knows.

Two of the worst new shows I watched this season are Magnum P.I. and A Million Little Things. The former being a tad more embarrassing. Happy Together might end up being worse than both.

reply

You're watching broadcast network shows, and comparing a non broadcast show to it, that's the problem. Anything on NBC, CBS, ABC and Fox is pretty much crap. But Better Call Sal, Fargo, Preacher, The Terror, just to name a few. These are all great, and plenty more besides those.

reply

Nothing I said even remotely alludes to the fact I don't watch Netflix, Prime, Hulu, or paid cable shows. Preacher and Fargo, both great shows. The exception, not the rule. There are other decent shows, even on broadcast TV. Netflix also has a handful of good shows. As does Amazon Prime.

Baseless assumptions serve no purpose. If you're happy with the majority of shows, and don't see the idiocy I see, I envy you. There definitely are not too many good shows to watch. In any case, it's not a debate. You don't have to share my opinion, but don't make baseless claims.

reply

Dude. Relax.

reply

Dude, thanks for your deep, and intelligent contribution. You don't seem irrelevant or pointless at all.

reply

For what it's worth, I have to agree that Mr InBetween is the best thing I've seen on TV in quite some time. Scott Ryan is a force. I love everything about this show.

reply

Dude, have you ever heard of Netflix or Hulu or Amazon? HBO or Showtime or Epix?

Why aren't you watching Ozark or House of Cards? Get Shorty or Silicon Valley? And have you ever seen Breaking Bad?

I don't understand this mindset that you "have to" watch crap. I am very selective about what I watch precisely because there are just so many great series nowadays.

reply

Yup, it's great and sad at the same time that there are so many good shows you can't watch them all.

reply

Dude, please explain how anything I said even remotely suggests I only watch broadcast TV and no streaming or paid cable. I don't think a more incorrect, baseless assumption has ever been made, dude. I named a few shows and you make this enormous leap as a result?

And dude, who said I "had to" watch anything. The entire point was I don't. Opinions differ, and that's great. But attempting to have a discussion by making up your own facts is ludicrous. It's like you read my post and started having your own conversation with some imaginary third person. Dude.

reply

YOU said that you have to.

And if you still maintain that there AREN'T too many good shows to watch, then I still believe that you don't know what you are talking about.

reply

I said that I had to watch crap? Really? Read much? Try again. Clearly the only who's proven they don't know what they're talking about is you. Claiming I said I have no choice but to watch crap doesn't mean the same thing as saying I have no choice but to watch American shows. That's what they air in America. If you also want to debate that, I guess I could watch nothing, but that's not realistic. Give it up. You've embarrassed yourself enough. Arguing opinions is idiotic, and the lack of reading comprehension is sad.

reply

Actually, the only person embarrassing himself here is you.

I mean, Mr Inbetween isn't a *bad* show, but so far it's nothing special either, so if you are upholding it as some paragon of quality, that tells me you haven't watched anything worthwhile.

If you did, you simply would not have made these false generalizations.

reply

Clearly you don't comprehend the meaning of the word "embarrass". Even more clear is the fact you also can't comprehend what you read. How old are you? I hope preschool age, otherwise you're a failure of the education system.

Did I ever claim this show was the be all end all? The show others should strive to be like? How one person could read words and form some completely obscure conclusion is baffling. Don't just sound out the words as you read along out loud, understand their meaning.

reply

Look, you keep backpedaling from your original statement, so trying to insult me is not only ineffective in terms of whatever injury you seem to desperately want to inflict, but is also really not helping your case.

You did state that in order to see quality television we apparently have to turn to foreign series, while referring specifically to Mr Inbetween. When in fact there are SO MANY American series that are superior to this (I can think of like 25 just off the top of my head - and those are just the ones I've personally watched), that it's beyond absurd to claim this.

This isn't an interesting conversation for me though - if anything, it would have been more interesting with someone who could actually substantiate their POV. It is supremely ironic that you accuse me of being immature when your responses in an argument have been nothing but pitiful attempts to throw excrement.

reply

Hahaha....it's like debating with a foreign short bus passenger. No back pedaling occurred. You just simply can't grasp, or comprehend what was said. Even with further explanation, which isn't necessary for anyone above a first grade reading level. I don't even know who you're replying to, it surely can't be me.

Go back to school. You just can't stop displaying your ignorance. I called you immature? Really? You still can't read, can you? I called you uneducated, and you've proven it yet again.

reply

LOL 😄

Oh, you poor you. In many more ways than not being able to appreciate quality series.

reply

I guess you told me.

This board is the first time I've ever heard of it or the movie it's based on. Have to check and see if still on F/X demand.
