Rosamund Pike to Lead ‘Wheel of Time’ TV Adaptation at Amazon

"The long-gestating “Wheel of Time” TV adaptation has finally found its lead.

Rosamund Pike cast been cast as Moiraine, a member of the powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai, in the Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television co-production.

Based on Robert Jordan’s best-selling fantasy novels, “The Wheel of Time” is set in a high fantasy world where magic exists, but only certain women are allowed to access it. The story follows Moiraine as she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women, one of whom is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, a powerful individual who will either save humanity or destroy it."

I'm so looking forward to this adaptation. I hope they don't fuck it up.

They may have fucked up already with Pike's casting. I love her as an actress and she's beautiful but I tend to be anal about adhering to the source material. Moraine's supposed to be very petite in stature and dark-haired. Being so small and still being such a commanding presence is part of the appeal of her character. Rosamund is damn near 6ft iirc. Hope they do justice otherwise.

They can work wonders with computer animation though and may resize her for the part.

LOTR style - interesting. I highly doubt that's the case but it would satisfy my peeve about following the source material.

I'm very excited to hear about this adapation! I'll be curious to see whether Rosamund Pike can play Moraine "correctly." Although I agree that Moraine's petiteness is a big part of her character, I think her charisma is more important, as well as how they cast Lan.

I have something to look forward to!
