Going off the trailer this Nurse Ratched seems like an over the top cartoony version of her

In One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest she was a conniving uncaring bitch, but she wasn't at all like she seems to be in this show, in the trailer shes going around looking and acting like some psychopath 24/7 and being really over the top about it, i'm surprised she didn't wink at the camera and pretend to twirl her mustache with an evil laugh.

I can't see this Ratched as the same Ratched from Cuckoos Nest, seems like two different people. The one from Cuckoos Nest seemed like a real life evil bitch, the Ratched from this show seems like an overexaggerated tv show villain caricature version of her.

I thought the show was good. However, you are correct, there are no characteristics between this show's Ratched and the movie's Ratched. The show's Ratched has a high degree of empathy and caring. Something is going to have to happen in Season 2 to make her change. I wonder if using the name "Ratched" actually translated into increased ratings. I believe that they should have just made the show with a different character.

Well, to be fair, in Ratched she had her moments of being conniving and manipulating, so it would be interesting to see how she transforms into the nurse from hell in OFOTCN.

It's a Ryan Murphy production, of course every character is over the top cartoony.

I thought the real Ratched was cold and heartless but not evil like the tv show one. This show is as dumb as Bates Motel.

It sounds like another one of those shows that for some reason isn't satisfied with a film character's backstory being exactly that. Backstory.
