Pretty Good But But Needs Some Deciphering.

To know exactly what’s going on. Don’t know if I can activate subtitles on Shudder, but I was hard pressed to understand some of the dialogue as it’s spoken with a sometimes indecipherable British accent & who knows if subtitles would’ve helped but it’s worth a try.

This is a good film. NOT scary or gory or “YUCK!” In the least. Not to me anyway, there are a few moments but it’s not bad in the least. It can be viewed by a young audience provided they have parental guidance. This is not what I consider “horror” or a “ghost” movie but that’s up to personal opinion I guess but let me say that the two leads were fabulous. These being the two child actors who played the main characters in the film. These kids are talented & everyone involved from the film production to their families should be proud. Couldn’t have asked for better if you were the director & producer/writer for this. They were THAT good.

As far as the movie itself, it’s a slow burn but so was “The Witch” & I liked that fine & I like this. As a matter of fact, some scenes felt like they were actually being rushed. There are a lot of details in this movie that I just didn’t understand but until more & more people are on here discussing it, I don’t want to say & ruin it for anybody. The ending is to say the least confusing as well but again I won’t speak of that, not yet.

Suffice it to say I”m not sorry I watched this, it’s a pretty decent drama I’d say over it being a horror/ghost story. Once more many things I’d like to inquire about but I’ll hold off until the audience for this movie weighs in on it here. Just to be fair but I think those of you who give this a chance will wind up liking it.

I'm curious as to what you found confusing.

It’s been quite awhile Sarah since I’ve seen this so I”m a little foggy myself on the details. I”m not watching it again to refresh my memory. Well I think maybe why the other girl came back & wanted to hurt her sister. It seems maybe the older sister knew what was happening, I”m not sure. The ending was confusing because was the mother dead? Or was she just back in time where the other daughter was alive. Like I said I have to guess even at my own reasons as it’s been too long since I’ve watched it.

:) My interpretation is that the mother died, most likely by taking her own life via jumping out the window. It seemed that Rachel was unwilling to exist in the afterlife without her mother, and the mother had admitted to Leah that she had always felt she had gone through the looking glass and was living the wrong life. She was never going to be able to love Leah the way she loved Rachel, so she made the choice to protect Leah from Rachel by going to be with her.

However, I would have liked for the movie to have ended differently. Once Leah had given Rachel her name, and her mother had shared her story with Leah, I would have liked for her to finally be able to release all the pain she'd held for those ten years and let Rachel go, to finally be the mother Leah needed.

Me too Sarah. Thanks for the post.

Btw: Check out the post: “The Other Blonde Lady”. When I first saw the movie I was confused about that too. Seems a lot of us were. Tell me what you think.
