Looks like Eco propaganda; Starts May 6

Hardly "world's worst man-made catastrophe", only 43 deaths (Wikipedia). Lying Green death-cult likes to inflate it.

reply

Body count is not the only measure of catastrophe.

reply

Thriving wildlife is a positive. Only a tiny portion was a dead zone.

Doing research debunks much "radiation paranoia". We already knew no reactor containment is a big no-no.

reply

Wildlife would also thrive if human civilization collapsed and we all died or re-wilded.

Chernobyl turned out to be not as bad as feared, but the long-term effects are what make it rank so highly.

What would you personally consider to be the worst man-made catastrophe, if not Chernobyl?

reply

I hear global warming is it - is it true or not? I dunno.

The truth is, we do a lot of shit to this planet - pollute seas/oceans/air/cut down forests, etc -
I live in Asia and I can tell you right now that this region that serves as the world's factory does major damage to air/water. I can see this shit with a naked eye.

Chernobyl, on the other hand, actually became a safe haven for animals/plants from the human activity.

reply

Global warming, even with mankinds contribution, is not a man made disaster.

reply

maybe to future generations it will be seen as such

reply

Lake Karachay in Russia is a quite interesting one. In the 90’s standing by this lake for an hour was enough time to get a lethal dose of radiation and then was the site of the largest concentration of open air radiation on the planet. People lived close by and down stream from this site for years and I even think it dried up once and a wind storm scattered radioactive dust for miles.

reply

Also... lets not forget that you recently posted easily debunked, essentially OUTRAGEOUS anti eco propaganda on the Trump board, and I didn't see you even reply to or acknowledge the numerous call-outs.

reply

Go and live there.

reply

It's just as likely that they just want to make the event seem as dramatic as possible for storytelling purposes.

reply

Exactly... regardless of everything, it was still a nasty event, but a verbatim account would still be less worthy of television.

reply

Thousands died over the years all over Ukraine, Belarus and some parts of Russia as a result. Many kids were born with problems.
And it's not really about the reactor fire. It's about the state. The system which would rather endanger its people than risk a blow to its reputation. It's about the 1st of May celebratory demonstrations that went as planned while the radioactive rains were falling. And so on and so forth...

reply

Yes, this.

Only a complete ignoramus would reduce Chernobyl to "only 43 deaths".

reply

Well Satan2016 is exactly an ignoramus, constantly posts propaganda, and hates terrorism unless there is an American, even a Federal Judge, who isnt being anti Muslim enough, then suddenly its acceptable for other Americans to send death threats (which is EXACTLY terrorism).

He never even disputed supporting this terrorism, in fact he doubled down (ask and I will link you to this!) nor is he fazed by his insane amorality.

He also doesnt budge when his propaganda is shown to be lies. I think he is probably a mental case, for real. Like may live on social security, unable to function normally in society.

reply

Hundreds of thousands died of cancers caused by radiation exposure, and an entire city had to be abandoned. Imagine that you live in Cleveland or Sacramento or Tucson, living your life, and one night the local nuclear power plant blows up and everyone you know is exposed to radiation and evacuated, and the city where you lived is abandoned. Your career as you knew it is over, you have to scratch for whatever work you can get wherever you land, everyone you know is not only scattered to the four winds, most of them are going to die slow horrible deaths from cancer.

And that's why nuclear power has gone out of fashioned. That really happened.

reply

And in addition to all that, the radiation lingers for a thousand years, in the entire region.

reply

Well, they are taking scientists and tourists into the "dead zone" now, no travel documentary about Russia is complete without a visit to the ruins of Pripyat and some chatter about how much radiation they're braving.

No chatter about how much radiation the guides are facing, taking party after party into the danger area.

reply

it's considered ''safe'' now to stay there for a few hours, but not live there

reply

It's considered "safe" to enter the outer zone for a few hours and gawk at the ruins or Pripyat. Like I said, I've seen several travel documentaries where the hosts go and gawk and boast about how much radiation they're braving on behalf of their viewers.

It's the guides I worry about. They're probably taking people into the danger zones every day. I mean it's a hard world and it's tough to make a living, I'm worried that the guides are absorbing dangerous doses of repeat radiation in order to make a buck.

reply

Indeed personally I would not do it... I guess they either don't really care or the pay is good.. I don't think I would even visit it for a few minutes despite it deemed ''safe''.

reply

I would love to visit, but I would probably not do it.

😎

reply

Amen. And it helped indirectly lead to the collapse of the Soviet Union a mere five years later.

😎

reply

Pretty much everything did. They just couldn't help themselves. The system bred indifference, selfishness and hackwork.

reply

That's because Socialism and/or Communism does not work.

😎

reply

Duh :)

reply

reply

Satan2016, are you SERIOUSLY a FUCKING RETARD?

reply

Who said only 43 deaths, the soviets? Just watch the end of episode 5

reply

It's not a documentary, retard!

reply

I think Satan2016 simply likes to stir up trouble with his mindless and idiotic posts. Only a true moron would actually take the stance of Satan2016 about this disaster.

I think he enjoys or takes some thrill out of being called a fool. He sits back and enjoys the show, so to speak. At least he picked the correct screen name.

reply

Pure envirotard brainwashing.

reply

I didn't know that radiation being bad for you was Eco Propaganda.
