The short musical burst when the Leper vomits on Eddie

I've read many comments that say that the music was so out of place at that moment. I fail to see why, as the first IT movie had a few musical moments that were also odd, like the Rock War music, the tiny burst of New Kids on the Block when Beverly sees Ben's poster on his door, and of course, the blood-covered bathroom cleaning montage.

Some people are so picky over nothing, sometimes.

It went beyond being out of place, to seeming like a mistake.

I assumed someone's phone went off.

It was certainly intentional, and I wonder what the significance of the tune was. I mean, Eddie has just discovered how to hurt IT, and IT retaliates and the music happens. Whatever the reasoning was, I'd be curious to hear Andy Muschietti's reason for including it.

RLM theorised that the filmmakers realised it was just not scary, so decided to play it off as a joke.

reply

I don't give a damn what RLM think. They're assholes.

It's a comedy. Enjoy the quirks. :)

Has to be, I mean, there is just too much going on for it not to be.

Well, a horror comedy. The best kind.

It's the evil dead meets IT.. you don't question these things. You wonder at the way they were crafted. haha

reply

It looked like a desperate last minute attempt at inserting some 'gag' comedy because we live in the Marvel Cinematic Universe now.

What's the song actually called? Anyone know?

reply

Juice Newton - Angel Of The Morning

Okay...I came here to ask about this moment in the movie. Why on earth did they choose that song and such a short clip...in THAT moment? Does anyone know?

As for the first movie, the New Kids moment made sense because Ben liked them and it had it's place at the moment.

In this movie...there's no other reference to Juice Newton that I know of...so why on earth did that suddenly play?

reply

This moment is Eddie's "eureka" moment, when he finally discovers how Pennywise can be destroyed, and maybe the musical burst is something to do with that? Like a kind of victory, which no amount of vomiting puke will diminish? But I don't get the connection with the actual music used.

reply

Okay that sorta makes sense...truth be told I need to watch the movie again. I only saw it once and it kind of bored me with waaaay too much CGI. But I will watch it again and try to make sense of it. Thank you for replying. :)
