Throwing in my two cents *spoilers*

This review is sponsored by 'Not caring CO.' because if you have a great movie to start off with, WHY SHOULD YOU CARE ABOUT THE SECOND ONE?!?

Yeah, I didn't like this movie... at all. So far, for me personally, this is the worst movie of 2019. (stressing this: ME PERSONALLY) I mean dear lord in heaven, this is the same team that made the last movie? It clearly is not showing! Okay, okay, breathing... let me go over the highlights of this movie before I get into the negatives of this movie.

Pro:
Bill Hader, Jessica Chastain- I solely wanted to point out these two because I loved the performances. They obviously gave it their all, and gave the performances these two characters deserved.

The kids- The kids once again return to give some awesome performances, really solidifying their characters. And a special nod to the de-aging effects (No, the CGI is not off the hook for one good effect..)

The transitions- Their are some transitions between scenes i thought were creative... that's it.

Cons-
Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise- BEHOLD! What was one of the best parts of the last movie has become one of the most irritating performances. Remember when he was so subtly creepy in the sewer the last time? Well get ready for that to be COMPLETELY CHUCKED OUT THE WINDOW AND INTO A ROCKET BEING SENT OFF TO JUPITER because i swear their was never a top to his over-the-top performance! It feels like the director let him do five lines of coke for every take he did. It wasn't creepy, it was annoying! Subtlety in this movie could have been outstanding, but NOPE!

The CGI- Where the last movie had decent effects, this movie's CGI looks like "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" but somehow doesn't even look that convincing. I'm waiting for Collider Crew to look at this CGI, and rip it apart!!!

The acting- Sorry McAvoy, but I wasn't feeling this one. almost everyone seemed way too weird, and lost, and not in a way that kept the movie interesting. Everyone seemed either not to care at all, or tried too hard.

The editing- Despite the good transitions, the editing in this movie is awful! It goes way too fast, or way too slow, and at the same time, feels too safe.

the writing- um... is this the same Stephen King dialogue from a popular book with good actors giving it life? Apparently not! The dialogue is so painfully one note!

The Ending- No movie... just because you acknowledged that people have said the ending sucks ALL THROUGHOUT THE MOVIE, you don't give yourself the pass, nor the right to keep the bad ending in the movie. If it sucks, CHANGE IT! I know the author wants to keep it in because it's his work, and he's defending it, which is nice and all, if it was any good!

Yeah, it was bad. bad bad bad bad bad!!! If you enjoyed it, congratulations, but I think i'm not going back to this Derry anytime soon...

You hyperbolic troll.

reply

It’s just my personal opinions. I’m not trying to troll anyone. If you enjoyed the movie, GREAT! Take my review with a grain of salt.

reply

I'll take it with a BUCKET, if you don't mind.

Did you love the first movie? Were you hyped for this one? Maybe your expectations were too high. I figured the second half wouldn't be as good as the first, as the adults are inherently less interesting than the children, but I personally still liked this movie. The CGI was not too bad, and Muschietti used practical wherever he could, but it's hard to do that with a giant spider clown.

reply

Take it with all the salt you’d like sir.

I did enjoy the first movie, but I wouldn’t say I loved it. I had expectations of the same last time for this movie.
I’m glad you liked the movie! I have a bunch of friends who loved it or liked it as well.
I still stand by that the CGI was bad, and never once moved passed video game quality.
I can understand it being hard to do that with a giant spider clown, but we live in a day and age where stuff like Thanos exists, and they couldn’t make the spider more realistic? Harry Potter has realistic looking CGI spiders.

Again, just my personal opinion.

reply

I've heard that this movie had a budget of $70m, which is more than the first movie, but still not enough for better CGI, I believe.

reply

The CGI was not too bad

It was real bad.

Muschietti used practical wherever he could

No he didn't.

reply

Dude, you have a couple of super defenders of this turd on this site. Any negative opinion leads to 'troll' call outs.
I for one agree with your opinion.

reply

But you haters ARE trolls. The call outs are justified.

reply

Dude you are the biggest hypocrite on this site , for months you have trolled the rise of Skywalker board , now you are having a hissy fit because the majority of people that watched IT 2 thinked it sucked , except the fact that this movie is not good.

reply

now you are having a hissy fit because the majority of people that watched IT 2 thinked it sucked

A Tomatometer of 62% and an Audience Score of 79% says otherwise.

Is that why you're posting negative about IT 2 here? Cos I bashed TROS? Fine, then I'm getting a taste of my own medicine. I bash Disney Star Wars and you can go bash Stephen King movie adaptations.

reply

I wouldnt bash a movie just to spite people , thats just childish

STOP! Okay people, I’m never going to like this movie. At all. But that doesn’t mean you have to get angry at those who don’t agree. This supposed ‘turd’ of a site isn’t going to get any better if we don’t start trying to be civil, if we don’t start realizing that at the end of a day, these movies being good or bad isn’t hurting us. We love movies, and we are free to defend these movies, or bash these movies, but attacking one another isn’t going to help anyone at all. Keep it civil, or just don’t comment at all. Don’t go in guns blazing, come in ready to have a healthy conversation about why you liked or didn’t like the movie. I went into why I didn’t like it, and I’m always open to hear why people liked it.

reply

You're right, Michael, and I didn't help to calm things down, neither. Sorry. IT Chapter 2 is certainly divisive, and so is Disney Star Wars, but we shouldn't argue over such things or inflame the arguments with name-calling. I certainly should be more tolerant of differing opinions.

Agreed, the CGI yanked me out of this movie while in the cinema. And I’m not even thinking of that spider cause I didn’t expect that to be good.

reply

It's a shapeshifting entity, of course there's bound to be CGI for some of the forms.

Did you think the zombie under the bed was CGI? Turns out it was an actual actor in prosthetic, which surprised me.
