It was pretty brutal to be fair, I was expecting Pennywise to go after the bullies after the beating but what happened instead shocked me. It was powerful and shocking which is what makes a good horror, could the controversial horror movie be back?

reply

It was probably Pennywise that influenced the homophobes to go after their victims.

reply

Seems like people are unable to distinguish homophobia with something that's *about* homophobia.

INSISTING THE PERPETRATERS OF AN ATTACK BE ARRESTED JUST BECAUSE THE VICTIMS WERE GAY IS RIDICULOUS.CRIMINALS SLIP OFF INTO THE NIGHT NEVER TO BE ARRESTED ALL THE TIME,AFTER COMMITING CRIMES
AGAINST ALL MANNER OF PEOPLE.

reply

Yes, it does happen.
I just saw a film recently (I'll leave out the title due to spoilers) where the main female character was on her way to a better life but instead she was raped and beaten to death. There was no justice or retribution for it either. Not for her or the male lead.
The bad guys won.

It happens all the time in film to all kinds of characters. .

I'm not sure why only this incident in this one film should be more important than everything else.

reply

Maybe the OP considers the scene to be a terminal downer in a movie he would otherwise like?

reply

I'm gay, and yeah the scene is disturbing, but that's the point, and it didn't really get to me or anything. But I've read the book and read enough about the movie where it wasn't a surprise. I do think it's sad to consider it's as relevant in the present-day as it was decades ago, when it was set in the book.

reply

The opening act is fairly brutal but it does have a point come later on, and a good one, so I don't see a major problem with it.

Have a short review of this movie if anyone is interested. Enjoy! Review here - https://youtu.be/xdbGDBG2JDw

Oh no a bunch of short haired fat dykes are butt hurt.

F off.

People aren't bitching about it being offensive. If you're LGBT and watch a film with a hate crime it's obvious it might hit close to home. It's just a warning, like how 13 Reasons had warnings before the episodes that involved explicit depictions of rape (since people who have experienced it might find it particularly disturbing). Obviously people won't get as worked up about a shapeshifting alien killing kids since that doesn't happen in real life.

Take a deep breath, and try to work on reading comprehension before you get triggered yourself.
