i personally did not find it scary, but i didn't find the first film particularly scary either. i did think the first film was pretty entertaining & very watchable, & while this one is not a disaster by any means, i did find it scattered & unfocused, & at least right now i'd rate it a good bit below chapter 1.
and it's long. it's far too long.
not to sound too negative. there are things to enjoy in it. if you enjoyed the first film, or king's book, i think it's worth seeing. but it's definitely a mixed bag for me. still recommendable, but a let-down.

shareI second that. The fans love this movie more than the critics. For example, I followed most of the movie critics that I normally do, but most of them had a go at the movie for "it's too long" and "it's not scary"... but I personally loved it.
Weighing in the factor that you were invested I'll take my chances.
