Over hyped, Overrated

It's a good depressing comedy but I wouldn't rate this anything more than a 6 out of 10 at Most...

reply

I gotta disagree, but I can understand how you feel. I've felt that way about other overhyped (IMO of course) movies like Hereditary, The Witch, and Marriage Story.

But for Joker - the hype was real for me. I saw it after hearing all the hype, and I loved it! Great movie, IMO. I hope it wins Best Picture, and Joaquin wins Best Actor. Amazing movie. Sorry it didn't work for you. Every part worked for me!

reply

Is it as good as a lot of people are saying? No. Is it still a great movie? Yes.

reply

This movie is a 10. And what comedy are you talking about.

reply

If you missed the comedy in this movie then god only knows what else flew over your head

reply

Your rudeness sure doesn't fly over my head. I got that.

reply

Sorry about that...

Over hyped, Overrated

but compared to what?

the irishman, frozen 2, star wars......jumani, once upon a time, the batman movies, the other super hero movies?

compared to those, it really is great

reply

It's overhyped and overrated compared to how it didn't live up to the hype and the high ratings...

When I was watching it and the credits started to roll I wasn't like "wow", I was more like "ok.. ok.. where is the exit"

Sure it was sad and thought provoking and relatable but it wasn't entertaining and I'm failing to see how this version of joker can best any version of Batman

Anyways, I really hope you are not talking about Nolan's Batman triology when you say "Batman movies"

reply

Nolan's Batman sucked due to batman's ridiculous voice

reply

The only problem I had was the recasting of "Rachel"

Batman's voice is supposed to be different from Bruce Wayne, I don't know how you wanted him to sound... to each his own I guess... but is it possible that your beef is really with Christian Bale?

reply

Christian Bale did the ridiculous voice-

Batman's voice change is most famously noted in the Christopher Nolan (director) Batman film trilogy, where Christian Bale (actor) intentionally adopted a low, guttural growl to his voice"

so he is one dumb fuck for sure

reply

Well said Tom.

Everyone has a different opinion regarding everything. That's the way it has always been.

Why do you hope they aren't talking about Nolan's overrated/overhyped Batman trilogy? Is it because their opinion differs from yours, therefore is factually incorrect?

Also, on a side note:
Every time I go see a movie in theaters, I look for and head to the exit once it's finished. There isn't much reason to wait until the ushers kick you out. Whether the movie was fantastic or a disappoint to me, I always leave when it's over.

reply

I shared my opinion, they shared their opinions, it's all good.. so I don't know why you coming out all hostile stating the obvious....

Nolan's trilogy is most underrated and underhyped especially The Dark knight Rises

I'm not talking about waiting until the ushers kicks you out, I'm talking about clapping and and cheering, taking off the proverbial hat when the credits start to roll

reply

Didn't realize the non-hostility in my comment was hostile...my bad.

Was it the part where I said that everyone has different opinions or the part where I was confused as to why your opinion is considered factually correct but really hope someone didn't disagree with you?

Or was it the part where I mentioned that everyone leaves the theater once the movie is over?

How is it both obvious and hostile?

Nolan's trilogy is underrated/underhyped? Like...in a different dimension? I've never heard anyone refer to them as such.

Considering most reviewers, websites and magazines consider them among the "greatest movies of all time", were nominated for multiple Academy Awards and still talked about today.
Even tDKR is considered one of the best superhero movies of all time, by many reviewers and websites.

You're the first person I've ever heard of who has called Nolan's trilogy ANYTHING other than a "masterpiece", tbh

reply

🤦

reply

My sentiments exactly lol.

reply

Right...

reply

Gotta get the last word in, or are genuinely agreeing that I share the sentiment?

reply

Overhyped is one word, not two.

reply

Thanks for the lesson 👌

reply

Yep. People are forgetting about this film already lol. It just wasn't that good.

reply

True that...

reply

I would give it a 7/10 because of the solid acting. Overall, I was a bit disappointed because there was very little suspense in the film. Everything bad that can happen does happen and you know it is going to happen. It is still a good film, but I was kind of bored by the end.

I did like that it brings to the forefront a discussion on mental illness, current problems with that system, and how society can treat those individuals and push them aside. However, I did not like that they tied it to a comic book character who is truly evil. It didn't feel like the character that we know, and that they just slapped the names on there for a cash grab. He didn't feel like a villain, he was just someone who goes off the edge because society and his family failed him and he needs to be in a hospital.

reply

Well said... apart from the 7/10 rating ,
I totally agree with you..
