If it did follow The King Of Comedy more, it may have made a better movie (spoilers for both)

I enjoyed Joker, but I do feel they wasted the chat show bit.

If Joker had kidnapped the presenter, like in the King of Comedy, and used that to get on TV... I think that would have been great, and Very Jokerish.
